The role of the Scene of Crime department is to support Police Officers across the force by providing a professional, impartial and effective service in the recording and scientific examination of crime scenes and items involved in police investigations.

 

 

SOCOs play a crucial part in gathering valuable evidence and attend over 84,000 scenes each year. Crime scenes include:

Burglaries
Vehicle crime
Offences against the person
Sexual assault
Sudden and suspicious deaths
Road traffic accidents
Arsons
Drugs offences
Homicides
