The Fingerprint Bureau plays a vital role in the identification of suspects and therefore is a major tool in the detection of crime.The services provided by the Fingerprint Bureau are considered to be the best among the forces of England and Wales. Around 20,000 cases from crime scenes and in excess of 50,000 prints from offenders are submitted to the Fingerprint Bureau each year for analysis. The Fingerprint Bureau is divided into the following teams:

- Fraud / Serious Crime
